New airfield construction project!

RIC has kicked off the latest airfield construction project, designed to enhance safety and align with FAA design standards.  The Taxiways C & E Intersection Relocation project consists of the design of new stub Taxiways A2 and A3 between Taxiways A and U that will replace the existing Taxiways C and E stub taxiways.  Stub Taxiways A2 and A3 will stagger the alignment of connecting taxiway and taxiways originating from the terminal apron in accordance with AC 150/5300-13B, Airport Design.

The project launched on 4/28/25 and is expected to end in the summer of 2026.  There are two extended closures of Runway 2/20 associated with the project, the first to occur in mid-July with the runway closed for 60+ days.  Updates will be communicated via the “RIC Construction UPDATE” which can be found linked on this website.  Questions on the project may be directed to RIC Airport Operations.
